在过去的15年期间，玛格丽特·曼宁和她的团队将Reading Room打造成为一家全球性备受赞誉的咨询公司。办事处遍及伦敦、曼彻斯特、悉尼、堪培拉、墨尔本、布里斯班、香港及新加坡。Reading Room是“Design Week Top 100”选定的英国顶级数字机构，是拥有新加坡货币局、斯柯达、飞利浦医疗保健、东南亚国家联盟、联合国难民机构等众多客户的全球性10大数字机构。
自从2012年以来，玛格丽特已经带领Reading Room在所有经营区域经历了一段高速增长的时期，尤其是在亚洲和澳大利亚。玛格丽特意识到欧洲的经济低迷可能还会持续很长时间，因此她将目光投向海外，特别是涉及亚太地区的增长机会。
**为什么选择新加坡？******
玛格丽特解释了她缘何来到新加坡。“实际上我们2011年抵达新加坡时，是因为收到了来自新加坡政府的邀请，来此指导新兴科技领域的年轻企业家。”
“当时，Reading Room已经分别在英国和澳洲设有2个和3个办事处。虽然我知道如果要使企业取得发展，应该开展亚太市场的事业，但是对于该从哪里开始却不太确定。可是当我来到这里的时候，立即爱上了这个地方。新加坡具备了成熟的数字市场，已经领悟到了综合性数字战略的重要性。”
“通过我们彻底的市场和竞争者分析，我们寻找到了其他任何人都未曾提及过的提供咨询服务的市场缝隙。另外，我们发现我们的目标地区正在将英国和澳洲看作是我们领域内的思想领袖，为我们提供强大的信任依据。”
“在四周时间内，我们完成了公司注册，租赁了一小间位于唐人街的店面，与3位雇员一起开始了我们的事业。如今，我可以很欣慰地说，我们已经拥有50多名雇员，当然，以及一间更大的办公室，尽管依旧位于唐人街。”
**显著发展******
我们问玛格丽特Reading Room在史蒂夫奖上的成功为她的商务事业带去了怎么样的影响。她最初的反应是：“哇噢，从哪说起呢?”经过再三考虑，她继续说道：“首先，我们为我们的客户赢得了奖项。不仅是因为这些奖项得到客户们的高度评价，能够使客户继续使用我们的业务，而且它们在我们所有的沟通交流中，成为很好的故事。”
Reading Room在[2013年国际企业大奖](http://www.stevieawards.com/pubs/iba/awards/408_2917_24498.cfm)中荣获了它自己的荣誉。玛格丽特告诉我们这些荣誉是如何为她的公司提供机会，以便在经营地区以外的新地区获得成功。

**全新奖项的影响******
随着2014年全新的[亚太史蒂夫奖](http://asia.stevieawards.com/home)的设立，我们询问了玛格丽特从业务角度这些新设奖项对于她意味着什么。她告诉我们：“很高兴看到亚太史蒂夫奖能够落户亚太市场，我们将会碰到一些可怕的竞争对手。亚太地区存在着如此多的机会，同时我们也将在2014年面临从未有过的激烈竞争！”
玛格丽特把新加坡作为她的全球运营总部，用以开拓Reading Room在亚太地区的业务，结果在香港和墨尔本又额外新增设了2个办事处，各自服务不同的地区和当地客户。
自2012年以来，新加坡分部人数已经实现从25人到50人的翻倍增长。目前是新加坡增长最快的数字机构之一。2011年创立以来，在玛格丽特的带领下，新加坡分部已经在亚太地区实现了300%的营业收入。
Reading Room Singapore目前正在成功为新加坡各个政府机构提供着顾问服务。同时，玛格丽特个人也已被资讯通信发展管理局选定为导师，针对市民的用户体验对政府部门进行指导。
**一个进军亚洲的跳板******
玛格丽特已经建议企业们针对在新加坡开展事业进行思考。“我们发现很多企业将新加坡视为进军亚洲的跳板，它确实具备这一功能。但是请记住，它所拥有的远不止这个。新加坡是一个充满机遇的生机无限的令人兴奋的社会，有着优秀的民众，美味的饮食，以及奇妙的天气。当然，只要你不在意湿气。”玛格丽特说道。
“这里有着机会，但是要想充分利用那个机会，你必须在新加坡社区努力工作。”
玛格丽特总结道：“这是很好的证明，说明史蒂夫奖获奖团队意识到本地区的影响目前正在波及至全球商务。”
**启发******
玛格丽特告诉我们这是一杯浓咖啡，帮助她在清晨积极做到最好，但是她的灵感来自于她所工作的充满不断变化和挑战的全新的领域。“我不可能会感到无聊，因为我与一群让人感觉不是同事，更像家人一样的神奇的人一起工作。”
然而，玛格丽特也有一个弱点。“老实说…那便是糖果粉碎传奇([Candy Crush](http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2014/feb/18/candy-crush-game-maker-files-ipo))。好吧，它不是用于商业目的，但是它却能够让我随时随地花费两分钟去放松一下！”
