Business-design consultancy XPLANE of Portland, Oregon received a Stevie Award for Best Motivational Video in the video awards categories of The 2010 American Business Awards.  The entry deadline for the 2011 ABAs is March 31.

In 2009, XPLANE produced a four-and-a-half-minute video, Did You Know? 4.0, which visually informs about how the new world of social media and the latest communication technologies have forever changed the world’s media landscape.  This award-winning web video has received over a million views since it was posted on YouTube, and still makes fascinating viewing more than a year later.

Dave GrayFounded in 1993 by Dave Gray, XPLANE has evolved from an information- design company into a global-communications and business-transformation consultancy. Now part of the Dachis Group, XPLANE drives results for leading corporations through what it terms Business Design Thinking.

In keeping with this, Gray—together with XPLANE consultant James Macanufo and Sunni Brown of Bright Spot Information Design—recently produced a business book, Gamestorming: A Playbook for Innovators, Rulebreakers, and Changemakers, explaining how tangible artifacts such as sticky notes and index cards make group creative thinking more effective. A short video from the XPLANE creative team using these same tools to provide a sneak peek into why this book is so useful in today’s business world.  You can view it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mrtu4MmthE.

Drawing largely from the visual thinking techniques that have made XPLANE famous, Gamestorming started out as a way to formalize a collection of visual thinking tools and grew into a handy playbook that anyone can use to think bigger, solve faster, and create more effectively. Gamestorming is a mindset: It fosters a new a way of thinking that is collaborative, fast-paced, and fun.

Gamestorming: A Playbook for Innovators, Rulebreakers, and Changemakers is available now, and for more information, check out the Gamestorming blog at http://gogamestorm.com.
